Silicon steel little knowledge

As a kind of special steel, silicon steel has many key indicators directly reflected in the brand. Understanding the naming rules of the brand and the meaning of the key indicators will help us carry out trade marketing activities efficiently. The naming of electrical steel grades usually includes four indicators: thickness, type, iron loss, and coating.

Common electrical steel grade marking rules
Thickness: Often marked with 100 times the nominal thickness (mm), for example, 50 represents a thickness of 0.5mm;

Type: often identifies the type of electrical steel, such as non-oriented, oriented, oriented for UHV transformers, medium frequency non-oriented, etc.;
silicon steel
Iron loss: Often marked with 100 times the guaranteed iron loss value, such as common values such as 600 and 800;

Coating: represents the type of insulating coating on the surface of electrical steel, such as semi-organic thin coating, self-adhesive coating, etc.;

In addition to these four key pieces of information, some steel mills will add steel mill codes at different positions of the grade, such as Baosteel's B, Maanshan Iron and Steel's M, Wuhan Iron and Steel's W, etc.

The impact of these indicators on price and application

Thickness: The thinner the thickness, the smaller the eddy current loss (heat) in the iron loss. At the same time, the thinner the thickness, the more difficult it is to produce, so the price is higher;

For example, under the same conditions, 0.35mm material is more expensive than 0.5mm material.

Type: ordinary non-oriented, medium frequency non-oriented, oriented silicon steel, etc. Different types are used in different products and have different requirements;

For example, ordinary non-oriented silicon steel is the cheapest, and high magnetic induction is more expensive than conventional non-oriented silicon steel.

Iron loss: Iron loss refers to the energy lost during the energy conversion process after the iron core material is added with a certain alternating magnetic field. The lower the value, the less loss and the more expensive the price.

For example, for the same 0.5mm conventional non-oriented electrical steel, B50A470 is more expensive than B50A1300.

Coating: The coating of electrical steel mainly plays an insulating effect. Taking oriented silicon steel as an example, different coatings have different characteristics and applications, and the prices will be slightly different.

For example, common non-oriented electrical steel coatings include thin coatings, thick coatings, extremely thick coatings, self-adhesive coatings, etc., as well as corresponding chromium-free environmentally friendly products.
