EN 10149-2 S420MC Hot Rolled Automotive Steel

EN 10149-2 is a European standard for hot-rolled flat products made of high yield strength steels.
Description
EN 10149-2 S420MC is a high-strength low-alloy steel that is used in the automotive industry for structural and safety-related components. This type of steel is often used in chassis and suspension components, as well as in safety-critical parts such as seat frames and airbag components.

Application
1. The S420MC steel grade has a minimum yield strength of 420 MPa and a minimum tensile strength of 480-620 MPa, depending on the thickness of the material.  It also has good weldability and high impact strength, which are important properties for automotive applications.

2. Some of the typical applications of EN 10149-2 S420MC in the automotive industry include chassis and suspension components, bumper systems, seat frames, wheel rims, and crash boxes.  The high strength and toughness of this steel grade allow for lighter weight designs and improved fuel efficiency, while still maintaining the necessary safety requirements.
