309 Stainless Steel Wire Mesh

Type 309 stainless steel wire mesh is a heat resistant alloy useful in temperatures up to 1700°F.  When higher operating temperatures are required, higher nickel alloys (i.e. see SS310, SS330, Inconel® 600, Incoloy® 800) are used in place of Type 309 stainless steel. Given its high chromium (~23%) and nickel (~12%) composition, T-309 stainless steel is highly corrosion resistant, has excellent resistance to oxidation, has outstanding heat resistance, and provides good strength at both room and elevated temperatures.

Stainless Steel Grade 309 and 309S are austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steels that are frequently utilized for higher temperature applications. Because of their high chromium and nickel content, Alloys 309 and 309S are highly corrosion resistant, have greater resistance to oxidation, and magnificent heat resistance while giving good qualities at room and high temperatures.  The difference between Stainless Steel 309 and 309S is the carbon content. Alloy 309S has a substantially less carbon composition which reduces carbide precipitation and improves weldability. Characteristics
